Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

MechSimulator (mechsimulator.com) is a free, browser-based platform providing interactive mechanical engineering simulators for technical and vocational education. It is operated independently by Naseel Ibnu Azeez.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit mechsimulator.com, how it is used, and what choices you have.

2. What Data Is Collected

MechSimulator does not require you to create an account or sign in, and you can use every simulator without giving us any personal information. We only receive personal information, such as your email address, when you choose to send it to us through a bug report, the contact form or an email (see Section 3).

The following non-personal data is collected automatically through third-party services (Google Analytics and Google AdSense) when you visit the site:

• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Country and approximate region (derived from IP address, which Google anonymises)
• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• Referring website
• Device type (desktop, tablet, mobile)

This data is collected in aggregate and is used solely to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve the simulators and content.

3. Bug Reports, Contact Form & Email

When you use the Report Issue button on a simulator, the form on our Contact page, or email one of our addresses (support@, contact@ or admin@mechsimulator.com), we receive what you send us:

• Your message, and your name and email address if you give them. An email address is optional on a bug report and needed on the contact form, so that we can reply.
• Technical details, on a bug report only and only if the box is ticked: the page you were on, the settings of the simulator, your browser and its version, operating system, screen size, device type, language and any recent error messages from the page. The form shows exactly what will be sent, and you can untick it.
• A picture of the simulator, on a bug report only and only if you tick that box. It shows the simulator’s drawing area, not the rest of your screen.
• Attachments you add to an email.

Your IP address is used to stop the forms being abused (for example, to limit how many reports can be sent from one connection in an hour). We store only a one-way scrambled version of it, never the address itself.

What we use it for: only to investigate and fix the problem you reported, to reply to you, and to keep a record of the conversation. We send you a confirmation, and for a bug report another email when it is fixed or if we need more detail. We never use your email address for marketing, never add it to a mailing list, and never sell or share it for advertising.

Who handles it on our behalf:

• Our own server, rented from WebHostBox and located in India, stores the reports, messages and attachments.
• Cloudflare runs the anti-spam check on the forms (Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at signals from your browser to tell people from bots), delivers email sent to our addresses, and serves this website. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
• Resend sends our emails to you. See Resend’s Privacy Policy.
• Google (Gmail): a copy of incoming messages is currently forwarded to the site owner’s mailbox.
• Anthropic (Claude): we use the AI assistant Claude to help read bug reports, find the cause in our code and draft replies. Report contents are processed by Anthropic for that purpose. A person stays responsible for every reply. See Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.

How long we keep it: reports, messages and attachments are deleted 12 months after the conversation is closed. Our backups are kept for 14 days, so a deleted item is gone from them within 14 days after that.

Your choices: you can ask us at any time to show you, correct or delete what you sent. Email contact@mechsimulator.com with your report’s reference number (for example MS-0042) if you have it.

4. Cookies We Use

MechSimulator itself does not set first-party cookies. It does keep a few settings in your browser’s localStorage (not a cookie, and never sent to us): that you dismissed the cookie notice, and conveniences such as your SI/Imperial unit choice, display options and game progress. However, the third-party services embedded in this site do set cookies. These are:

• Google Analytics cookies — to track aggregate site usage (see Section 5)
• Google AdSense cookies — to show contextually relevant advertisements (see Section 6)

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that blocking cookies may affect website functionality.

5. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage statistics. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish users and track sessions.

The data collected by Google Analytics includes page views, session duration, device type, and geographic region at a country level. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage.

Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-8475334350760145) to display advertisements on this site. Google AdSense uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to mechsimulator.com and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings or by visiting aboutads.info.

7. Third-Party Links

MechSimulator may contain links to external websites (for example, educational references or manufacturer documentation). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

8. Your Rights & Opt-Out

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data-protection laws (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR, and similar regulations) including:

• The right to know what data is held about you
• The right to request deletion of your data
• The right to opt out of data processing for advertising purposes

For anything you sent us through a form or by email, contact us as described in Section 3 and we will act on your request. For data collected by Google Analytics and AdSense, these rights apply to Google rather than to us. To exercise your rights with Google, visit Google’s Data & Privacy page.

To opt out of personalised advertising specifically:

• Visit Google Ad Settings
• Use the NAI opt-out tool
• Enable “Do Not Track” in your browser settings

9. Children’s Privacy

MechSimulator is designed for use by students in technical and vocational education programmes, including those who may be minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Students under 13 can report a problem without giving an email address; if they would like a reply, a parent or teacher should send the report. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of MechSimulator after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
